The parade had ended before I got there, but I stood in the park, listened to speeches, and sang along with the excellent rendition of The Star Spangled Banner. I held my hand long on my heart.
Then I wandered around, and from the back of the crowd took pictures.
A striking scene was this lone horn standing on the grass among this military band.
Is this a parallel to the horseless rider portraying the fallen? I’ve tried to find the answer today, but have been unsuccessful. Do any of you know?

Veterans Day. Special day. In Europe, it has a little different tone. Every family there has been affected by war or had a family member involved in some war duty. The wounds were still deep until the new generation became of age. But the scars are still visible everywhere. Without veterans either there or here, what kind of freedom would be ours? They deserve honor and respect.
I have met young men who served in the Vietnam era, old men from the Indochina days, and brand new veterans from the ongoing conflicts. Emotionally scared, lives forever altered. I salute all veterans !!! Thank you !!!
We had several in my family … humble men, thankful to be alive, story telling heroes.

I especially like the picture of the Vietnam Veteran. Grey military-cut hair and an earring. The times they were a changin’.
