Max Pickering and My Blog

On August 18th, I wrote a column in which I posted a stunning picture photographed by Max Pickering a man who had been nominated as 2006 BBC Photographer of the Year.

Max visited my site and we have had a little running conversation since then. For some reason, if in the search engine Google, you type Max Pickering, you will find a reference to my blog several steps above Max Pickering’s own site. Yesterday, I had 300 hits on my Max Pickering post. 🙂 Max and I have laughed about it together—via email.

The contest is over and Max Pickering has been designated by BBC as the 2006 Photographer of the year! Let’s hear it for him.

Max Pickering Picture perfect! Congratulations to Max Pickering from Aylesbury in Bucks who has been voted the BBC News website Photographer of the Year 2006!

The international competition for the coveted title of BBC Photographer of the Year 2006 has just finished, with Buckinghamshire based Max Pickering winning the title. Max, who polled over 25% of the 37,000 votes, beat off over 24,000 other entries to make it to the final twelve.The final voting stage allowed members of the public to choose one of the images to vote for and the picture with the most votes would be announced as the winner. World wide demand on the BBC voting servers had been so high that the BBC took the unprecedented step of extending the voting a further three days from the initial two days.The BBC competition, now in it’s third year, continues to attract entries from hobby and professional photographers all over the world and remains the BBC’s prestige photographic competition of the year.
