An Alaskan Cruise–The Grand Finale of the 50th Celebrations!

originally uploaded by Shirley Buxton. Photography by James Wellner

Jerry and I have our luggage packed. We will rise in the morning at 3:15, drive down to San Bernardino, pick up Rebecca and travel to the Ontario Airport where we will take a plane to Seattle. There we will board the Vision of the Sea, a ship of the Royal Caribbean Line. At 5:00 pm the ship will be tugged from the pier, and Friday night and the next day we will ply the seas of the Pacific and the Inland Passage. On Sunday, we go into port at Juneau.

Fifteen of us are traveling together, including Steve and Dearrah, Mike and Melina and Rebecca. Other friends and relatives are joining us, and we are very excited. We have side by side Jr. suites with balconies, and as I understand it, all our balconies open to the ones beside us. We’re planning on a blast! Wish all of you could jump aboard. I’m taking a laptop computer and they tell me there are hotspots situated throughout the ship. The cost for using the internet is 50 cents a minute, but if all works out well, I will send a post every day, and will try to include pictures. DON’T MISS MY TRAVELOGUE! I probably won’t be able to respond very much, but keep the comments coming. Don’t let my blog die 😦 while I’m gone…please.

Blessings to you, my friends.

Still full of life and ready to be on the move, Shirley at 84 years old feels blessed to have lots of energy and to be full of optimism. She was married to Jerry for 63 years, and grieves yet at his death in August of 2019. They have 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren...all beautiful and highly intelligent--of course. :)
