God’s Eye On His World

Raw talent from an incredible child. A powerful message from the Word of God.

This dynamic song was written by Civilla Martin in 1905. As timely and moving today as ever was.

  1. Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
    Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heav’n and home,
    When Jesus is my portion? My constant Friend is He:
    His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
    His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

    • Refrain:
      I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free,
      For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
  2. “Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear,
    And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
    Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
    His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
    His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
  3. Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
    When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
    I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
    His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
    His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

I’ve listened to this several times, and it greatly moves me each time I hear it. It makes me thankful to God. I’m thankful that God has given such talent to our world; a rare voice like this young man possesses, and the inspiration of Mr. Martin to write such a beautiful song–more than a century ago now.

And here we are across the United States–indeed across the world–with such music and inspiration flooding our homes. How blessed we are. How great is our God. How acute is His Eye.

WOW!!!! and again I say WOW!!!!

To my untrained ear it seemed impeccable…I didnt hear one sour note from either the young boy or the choir.
