Nona Freeman Following Her Stroke

She’s an amazing woman of God: on this video, mere days following her recent stroke, from her hospital bed, Sister Freeman speaks.

God bless her and keep her.

Nona Freeman, veteran missionary to Africa, is one of the best-loved writers in Pentecost. Nona and her husband, E. L. Freeman, began their life of missions in 1948 in South Africa. They left the United States with their five children ranging in ages from nine years to six months. They spent the next forty-one years in Africa, returning to the states on furlough every seven, six or five years. Even after her husband’s death in 1999, at the age of ninety, she continues to travel, preach and speak. She has served the Lord in ministry for seventy years

Remarks taken from her website

December 9, 2009 IMPORTANT UPDATE on Sister Freeman here. She is now under Hospice care.

By Shirley Buxton

Still full of life and ready to be on the move, Shirley at 84 years old feels blessed to have lots of energy and to be full of optimism. She was married to Jerry for 63 years, and grieves yet at his death in August of 2019. They have 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren...all beautiful and highly intelligent--of course. :)

Praise the Lord sister freeman. My name is MARTA RIVERA. Recently came to know Jesus after many times of trying every thing on my own. I am a writer and have many poems nd a book I have been blessed to write.I would love to share these with you sometime but don’t know where you are. I am in Summerville S.C. I’m not sure also how to get my work out I have sold many poems and tried a published company but they want around thousand dollars to publish my work. Although they really did enjoy my work they told me. It was Dorrance publishing comp. I have also recently found holy ghost radio and this is HOW I found you. I have faith that one day we wi ll meet if anything at least at the rapture. I am 34 yrs. Old and enjoy hearing you. If you have any advice for me Please feel free. In JESUS NAME Bless and thank you for your encouraged words on Holy Ghost radio. Truly Marta Rivera.

Sister Nona Freeman has been such an inspiration to me for years in my walk with the Lord. As I sit here reading all these heart felt words on this page I am reminded how that she in her preaching at the ladies conferences I was blessed to attend and all the books that she wrote that I have read has in great part been what as taken me to a relationship with JESUS on the level of HIM being my dearest Friend. I read her daily devotional “Give Us This Day” as part of my daily devotions and it never ceases to Amaze me how it’s just what I needed for that day. I have bought that book for others knowing if they read it they too will fall more deeply in love with our dearest friend JESUS. I thank all of you that keep this ministry going. I have been going thru. the trial of my life and her “kneemail” ministry came to mind. I used to follow it on facebook but I no longer have a facebook account, so this was so inspiring that I could come to this page and be fed by true Apostolic believers. Thank you!Thank you!Thank you! And God Bless You Abundantly! Love In JESUS, Kim Griffin/Apopka Fla.

DECEMBER 26, 2010-Is the one year anniversary of the home going of my beloved mom; Sister Nona Freeman. Earth’s loss is heavens gain. Below is a beautiful tribute written about her by her grandson Tom Thompson. Thanks to all Mom’s supporters and please continue to pray for us. Losing her has been the hardest trial we have ever faced. Mom, rest in peace with Jesus, dad, Grandma, Marla and all the apostles, saints that have gone on and prophets of old. Until we meet again love you and miss you.

The Author by Grandson Tom Thompson
Written about Grandmother; Nona Freeman
December 28, 2009

The Author takes up His pen and puts it to paper. He has written many stories, composed many lines for He is the Master Storyteller. He doesn’t use normal paper, nor a traditional pen. He uses human lives for his medium and trials, joys, emotional valleys, spiritual mountain tops and daily situations as his quill. He is, after all, the author of life, as well as the Author of salvation. He wrote the story of Nona Freeman, just as he writes the story of everyone’s life. All of the situations, every happening, every circumstance culminated in the person that was Nona Freeman. The Author can take any life and write a story of superlative beauty, if that life is willing to be edited by Him.

Those of us who have read books of Nona Freeman, heard her speak, or been touched by her in person, know what a unique life she lived. Her life was an example of service to Jesus Christ and her fellow man. All that she was came through clearly in her preaching, in her writing, and in her daily life; she was every whit a child of God. She will be greatly missed.

Now the Author has laid down his pen, His writing is complete, and the tome that is Nona Freeman is finished. I can see on the last page of the story that is her life, two words written with deft strokes, with lines broad and narrow, the swirling marks of a master scribe. The post script that all God’s children receive when this earthly story is ended. The two words from which we that remain garner so much comfort….

I heard today that Sister Freeman has indeed gone to meet her Lord and Savior. Her smile will light the way for others, no doubt. She is, to pentecostals, what Sister Teresa was for catholics. A true saint in every word. God bless her family in this time of grieving and rejoicing.

Sister Nona Freeman’s CHRISTmas Message 2009:

‘Jesus; the gift to the world that became The Giver of Salvation and Eternal Life!’

‘JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON”

To all my Dear Friends,
We celebrate His birth everyday, not just at CHRISTmas time. His coming brought REDEMPTION to this world. My favorite CHRISTmas poem is:

If you look for me at CHRISTmas,
You won’t need a special star-
I’m no longer just in Bethlehem,
I’m right there where you are.
You may not be aware of ‘Me’,
Amid the celebrations,
You’ll have to look beyond the stores,
And all the decorations.
But if you take a moment,
From your list of things to do,
And listen to your heart,
You’ll find, I’m waiting there for you.
You’re the one I want to be with,
You’re the reason that I came,
And you’ll find me in the stillness,
As I’m whispering your name.
Love, Jesus

As my strength is waning, my faith and trust in Him becomes greater! The Gift, He gave us so many Christmas’s ago is still vibrant and beautiful.

May you have a blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

May the Christ child become more of a reality in your life and may you celebrate His birth everyday.

Blessings to you and yours, Nona Freeman Christmas 2009

Greetings to one and all. We are trying to keep up with Sis. Freeman’s condition, and praying for the entire family. Does anyone know Bro. E.L. Freeman’ date of birth/death. Or Sis. Nona Freeman’s Date of birth.
I read where he passed in 1999 at the age of 90, but no actual dates. I like to keep a record of dates on people like this. My email is UPCMDTPAS@SBCGlobal.Net if you have any of this info. Thanks, God Bless, Merry Christmas. Paul Shaw

Dear Friends and Fans of Nona Freeman; December 8, 2009

Greetings in the name of Jesus. This is just to update everyone about my condition. The Lord has blessed me to live 93 wonderful years and as the lyrics record truly, ‘I Don’t Regret A Mile I’ve Traveled For The Lord.’ God has been my constant love and keeper. I marked my 70th year in the ministry April 12, 2009. My life has been one amazing blessing and miracle after another. I had a loving childhood; married a man that I still love to this day and God blessed me with five amazing children.

We were called to Africa but long before we got to go there our hearts were there; then 41 years later we returned to the United States. After the death of my beloved husband ‘E.L. ‘Bug’ Freeman in 1999 my wonderful daughter Sandra Freeman has devoted her life to seeing I have been able to continue my ministry that God called me to when I was but a child. I am blessed to still enjoy the benefits of my new computer my supporters blessed me with for my 70th ministerial anniversary that I am sending this message to you on.

I am sorry but I am no longer able to continue my schedule due to my health from sickness I suffered in January 2009. God has blessed me not only with a wonderful daughter to see I can carry on my ministry but wonderful aides that devote their time to see the work of Nona Freeman; my ministry, my books and messages can still go out.
I am sorry I am not nor have been able to take personal calls as I desire and have done so in the past; my energy just does not allow it now.

For a few weeks now I have been under the care of hospice that comes to my home. Please bear in mind; I am in no pain but I am ready for God to take me. I am getting weaker. I have fought a good fight; I have kept the faith and I have traveled the world in obedience to Gods call on my life to answer the call God placed on mine and Bugs heart to carry this Jesus name gospel. Our ministry has been our life. I have the greatest family a person could ever have but I am ready to see my Jesus, my mother and my daughter Marla now gone to be with the Lord; many other loved ones, prophets and apostles of old. But next to Jesus my heart is so longing to see my ‘Bug’. I miss him more every day.

I am honored for every prayer that has been prayed for me and ask your continual prayers in the days ahead. May all of my precious supporters have the best holiday and my prayer is not only for 2010 but the rest of your lives be filled with the blessings of Jesus. Please remember me and the name of Jesus I have and will always uphold. Until we meet again, Sister Nona Freeman

I am an autistic adult. I was born with classic autism (head banging type child) because of this I know about families wrapping themselves around a disability. Stroke, like autism is a family affair. I am also a bit of a savant, my gift understanding the human body.
4 years ago, a doctor asked me if I would apply my skills to a patient of his, Dick Clark who was reaching the six month point in his recovery. You can read the rest of the story from the cover story Stroke Connection Magazine. I work everyday with stroke survivors. My disability is my gift and my compassion comes from my own dealing with the rest of the world around the disabled individual.

Here is a youtube video of what I do.

Thank you for coming by and leaving this inspirational story. I wish you well.

Sis. Freeman is an amazing lady. I remember seeing her a few years ago at a general conference and how she mentioned that if it were possible she would do her missionary time in Africa all over again. She is one of those people that the Scripture speaks of who still “bring forth fruit in old age.”

Carol, if it could be analyzed (at least in God’s way) her blood would no doubt be African.

She’s the kind of person who I wish could live forever on this earth – and not get any older or sick. I would love for her to keep preaching so the future generations could benefit from her wisdom and anointing.
