Moon Over Parker

DSC_0131, originally uploaded by Shirley Buxton.

The day had slipped away, and it was into the dark of last Saturday evening as Jerry and I returned to Arizona from our trip to California. Out of the dark, over the top of the looming mountains, my eyes locked onto a chunk of light, then, as we followed the twisting road, the gleaming was gone. In minutes, though, it reappeared and I saw it to be the rising moon.

The moon was huge, bulging over the mountains, swifting rising, and as I reached for my camera, Jerry pulled to the roadside and stopped the car. We sat, truly mesmerized at the amazing scene that unfolded in our vision.

“How is it possible there could be some who believe such a sight created itself?” I’m not sure, even yet, if I spoke the words aloud…or if they were mere thoughts in my finite mind.

“The LORD reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof. Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne. A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about. His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled.

The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

The heavens declare his righteouness, and all the people see his glory.” Psalm 97:1-6

My daily devotional  is here.

By Shirley Buxton

Still full of life and ready to be on the move, Shirley at 81 years old feels blessed to have lots of energy and to be full of optimism. She was married to Jerry for 64 years, and grieves yet at his death in August of 2019. They have 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren...all beautiful and highly intelligent--of course. :)

How beautiful. I love to see the sunrise and set as well as the moon. There is just something so amazing about it. My son who is an artist has done a couple of paintings and I tell him “what a masterpiece”. Of course they a beautiful. But when you look at God’s Canvas—WOW! He is truly the most amazing artist (or maybe I should say “CREATOR”)

Thanks for sharing the photos. God Bless!

Jana, Bryn has well called that moon…but she is too little yet! 🙂

I have charming pictures of her taken during the angel banquet, and will probably post one or two of them. She is a gorgeous child.

Love you all,

Wow! What awesome photos! You know, I’ve seen the moon many, many times in my 45 years of living, and STILL I am enthralled when I see it huge like this. Funny, I’ll never tire of it. Even clouds, and trees, and flowers, and animals. No matter how many times we see these creations by God, they always thrill us. That confirms to me that they were truly created by God. Because He lives in me, when I see His creation, I get excited. His Spirit in me gets excited. Does that make sense?

I’m so glad you made it home safely. We missed you. Love, Tena
