After his school is dismissed this afternoon, Nathaniel and Rebecca are driving up from San Bernardino, will have dinner with Jerry and me, then we all are going out for an evening of drama and music. It’s the “Singing Christmas Tree” at Lake Arrowhead Community Baptist Church. The title of their program this year is, “The Greatest Hero of Them All.”

Without even knowing the storyline of tonight’s drama, I can tell you who is the hero of this season, indeed of all times. It is our God, our Saviour, our Redeemer. He who loved us so much He left Heaven’s splendor, came to earth as a flesh and blood baby, bearing the certain knowledge that He would be persecuted and that He would suffer, that He would be rejected. And He knew—it was the Divine Plan—He would die for our redemption, for our salvation. Yes, Jesus is “The Greatest Hero of Them All.” I love to sing about Him; the great hymns of the church, contemporary lyrics, and the ancient Carols of Christmas. I love to listen to the voices of others who through this medium offer worship and glory to our Messiah. Across America, across the world, during these glorious days of Christmas festivities, we give praise. We give honor. For yes! Jesus, the Messiah, the Redeemer has come.
