THANKSGIVING PROJECTS November 16, 2007
Last night, we assembled the boxes.

A few weeks ago, Melody decorated the box and placed it in the recreation hall here at DJs. Since then she has emptied it several times and now we have a large accumulation of staple food items. This afternoon Jerry is picking up enough bread and pastry for 25 families. People have placed envelopes of money in our box in the office, and Michael has collected several hundred dollars to buy turkeys. Melina has decorated the individual boxes and this evening we will all meet at the church to assemble them.
This is our first Thanksgiving at Christ Alive church here in Lake Havasu and we are preparing food baskets to give to needy families here in the area.
Working perfectly, we believe, is our plan to give a turkey to every family who attends Christ Alive this Sunday. You’re all invited. Hop on a plane, but let me know, so I’ll be ready to pick you up at Havasu Regional airport. You should get a ticket for a thousand or two. Small sum to pay for such as you to worship with such as I on Thanksgiving Sunday.
Disclaimer edit: The turkey we give you on Sunday morning will be naked, wrapped up modestly in plastic though. Sorry if the picture led you to believe our presentation would be such.

FIRST CLEANING DAY AT CHRIST ALIVE
We had our first special cleaning day at our church yesterday, November 10, 2007

Jason and Christina were waiting when I arrived just before 9:00 on Saturday morning. Jerry has baptized both of them, but they have not yet received the Holy Ghost. They are sweet young adults…feeling their way through life.

Jason hosed down the sidewalk after we had finished cleaning inside.

I love this picture.

REPORT ON SPECIAL SERVICE November 4, 2007
We had rented 40 extra chairs, and on Saturday, Michael met with Jerry and me to set up for the Sunday morning service. When we started putting the chairs out, though, it looked like so many, that Michael’s faith and mine faltered a bit, and we decided to leave about a dozen of them stacked in the hall.
But we had invited lots of people. I had mailed letters to every person who has ever visited our church, we had made and distributed flyers, we had an article in the local paper, Jerry had made dozens of phone calls and personal contacts and Michael had invited everyone of the “Goatheads,” a yuppy, motorcycle group based here in Lake Havasu. Earlier in the week, one of them had called Mike to ask, “Is it okay if we ride our bikes to church?”
“Of course. Not a problem at all,” he had told them.
Jerry and I arrived at the church around 8:30 and there were already a few people there. But it was around 8:45 that we heard the roar of the bikes and soon the parking lot was inundated with motor cycles, so that finally there was hardly room to park.

They came pouring in, and quickly I told Brandon, “Set up the rest of the chairs.” When we had registered and counted, we found that 85 people were at Christ Alive today! Recall that we have only been here 8 months. We were ecstatic.

Brother Pence of Prescott, AZ. has a most remarkable testimony of a healing from cancer. The doctors had given him two weeks to live. He had 22 tumors in his lungs from a cancer that had metastasized from his kidneys.

He had lost 60 pounds, had made all his funeral arrangements even to picking out his casket…Here, he is showing the packet from the mortuary where he had made the arrangements. But God had different plans and has completely healed him! All the tumors have gone, his racking cough is cured, and recently, his doctors declared him completely cancer free. His testimony is incredible.

Ernie, who is pictured here is suffering from pancreatic cancer, and the doctors have not given him a good prognosis. He came to Christ Alive today believing God for a miracle in his own life.

I was touched by the generous response of the audience, and their involvement with worship that to many of them was unfamiliar. They were extremely receptive to the Word of God as it was preached, and to an invitation to join in our Pentecostal worship. All over the room, both men and women were openly crying.

At the conclusion of the very appropriate sermon, Brother Pence invited everyone to the front who needed special prayer. Ernie was the first to leave his seat and head to the pulpit. Here you see him being prayed over.
Please pray for our work here. These people are precious–some of them know God in a measure–others have a very limited knowledge of Him. Jerry and I are desperate to be able to point them to Jesus, the only Saviour.

VERY SPECIAL SERVICE AT CHRIST ALIVE SUNDAY Nov. 4
A few months ago, Rev. James Pence, whom you see pictured here was diagnosed with a deadly cancer that had metastasized from his kidney to his lungs. In his lungs were 22 tumors. He was sent home and given 2 weeks to live.
Through a miraculous occurrence, he has been completely healed, and is now cancer free. He has regained his former strength and vitality. It is simply amazing.
Edit: 7:45 Wednesday Sorry about the pictures. I don’t know why they’re not showing up properly any more.
On Sunday, November 4, 2007, he will be giving his testimony at:
CHRIST ALIVE WORSHIP CENTER
2051 Holly Ave. Lake Havasu City, AZ.

CONFERENCE REPORT AND PICTURES
Sunday 10/28 8:20 am I made it home safely last night. This afternoon I will post reports and pictures of this wonderful conference.
SUNDAY 10/28 4:oo pm

Geanice Langley is the president of the Oregon District ladies department. She had contacted me several months ago about speaking for their annual conference. As you can see, she is a strikingly beautiful woman, but her physical features are as nothing compared to her extraordinary spirit of servanthood, and of giving.
When I was shown to the apartment in the King’s house where I was to stay, I was stunned at the gifts Sister Langley had placed there for me. There was a huge basket of every kind of snack imaginable–nuts, candy, fruit, cookies, crackers, etc. There also were notebooks, picture frames, a beautiful soft throw, bath powders and lotions, candles–it was amazing. The refrigerator and cupboards were stocked with water, juices, soft drinks, coffee, instant oatmeal, and microwave popcorn…I can’t recall it all. At one of the meals for leaders and speakers, she presented me with another gift–a silver vase with crystal roses, reminding me that Portland is called The City of Roses. She is a dynamic, beautiful ladies leader.

Pictured here are Brother and Sister King, in whose home I stayed during this conference. Brother King has pastored the beautiful church in Aloha, Oregon for 30 years. The building seats somewhat over 400 people and is of unique and striking construction.
Sister King catered to me, fed me, transported me to and from the airport and to all the services. We had wonderful conversations and lots of fun. She had prepared their lovely ground-level apartment for my stay. It was delightful.
Brother King picked up Michael at the airport, took him to meals, and gave him a grand tour of their outstanding church facilities.

View of the platform
The conference was wonderful in every way. Sister Doty has a tremendous testimony of deliverance from the New Age doctrine and of an introduction to truth. She has written several books and works in the field of Christian psychology, besides being the wife of a Home Missionary. She lives in South Carolina.
The Oregon district is blessed with excellent leadership, and the calibre of saints there is a reflection of that. Brother Gary Gleason is the superintendent, and his delightful wife, Linda, is also the national Ladies Ministries Secretary. The music was exceptional and featured the newly formed Oregon Ladies Chorale. Their harmony was tight, and their spirits were beautiful. They sounded as though they had sung together for years.
It is always moving to see young people totally in love with Jesus, lost in worship and dedication. Compare this sight with many worldly heroes and heroines; immodest, stoned, vile and ungodly.

Many of you know, but some may not that my second son, Michael, was out of the church, backslidden and away from God for 25 years. Two years ago on the same night both my husband and my son Andrew dreamed that Michael was killed. Each of them called Michael and told him of his dream–not knowing of the other’s. It definitely was a call from God, to which Michael responded. He prayed through to the Holy Ghost and has not looked back!
He has a fabulous testimony as can be imagined. On Saturday morning, he joined me in speaking, and it was one of the happiest days of my life. God used Michael in a powerful way and at the conclusion of his speaking, he invited down those women who had unsaved children or other lost family members. The aisles filled and the platform nearly emptied. There was a phenomenal move of the Holy Ghost.

Sister King and Michael embrace after Michael prayed with her concerning her lost children.

Michael prays with Sister Doty concerning her son who is away from God.
Michael and I couldn’t stay for the conclusion of the Saturday morning service because of our flight schedules. Sister King drove us to the airport, and although we were to fly on different airlines, our gates were next to each other, so we had another hour or so to visit. We hadn’t eaten all day, so we had lunch in the airport. We walked into one of the restaurants and they seated us at a delightful table before a flaming fire in a massive fireplace.
Those were very special days for me–not only because of the powerful ladies conference in Portland, but because I had this precious opportunity to spend a couple of days with Mike in a unique setting and to team with him…to speak in a conference about God…and about His delivering power. It doesn’t get any better than that!

“Whose report will you believe?
We shall believe the report of the Lord”
Thank you Sister Buxton. For all of us who have lost sons and daughters, God will do it!!!
Young people loving God are precious.
God bless you and your family.
Catherine-
Yes! God will do it. I am believing with you, for I am full of faith.
Having been present at the service mentioned for our children that have been away from God, I recieved her back that day by faith. Evidenced by an incredible move of God through me (God just took over and I was like a crazy women in intercession and warfare taking back what was stolen from me), as well as the confirmation of that answer in an awesome expression of joy when laughter broke forth by inspiration of the Holy Ghost proclaiming the victory for my daughters soul! Also a promise from Jesus that my daughter Alexandrea and I will be priviledged to give our testimony of shared deliverance as Sis. Buxton and her son Michael have done! It will be to the glory of God almighty. Beauty for Ashes and the Valley of Achor for a door of hope to our generation. Our story for His glory. Thank you Jesus!!!
Hello, Sharon. Welcome to my site.
God definitely was so good to us during those services in Portland. Keep believing God, and grasping those promises that Alexandrea will return to Him.
Blessings always
What a beautiful conference. I’m believing with Sis. Doty for her son to come back to God. She is a beautiful woman and has been an encouragement to me. I remember when Michael and you spoke at our ladies’ retreat last year about his testimony. It was a tear-jerker in a good way. Thank God for his grace and mercy, and thank you for sharing this touching service.
Hi Karen-
Yes, let’s do remember to pray for Sister Doty and her son. Oh, let me tell you–God is great, full of mercy and forgiveness. I can never thank him enough.
Sis. Buxton,
Thanks for sharing. God is awesome. You and Michael’s testimony gives hope to so many to keep holding on.
Love you!
Debbie
Good morning, Debbie-
Yes, God is awesome, and I will never-ever-stop praising Him for having such mercy on Michael. To have loved him so much that He sent such dreams–we will never forget it.
Love you

I have enjoyed your website so much. You are so blessed with a gift of writing.
I am sure that Rhonda is some relative of my husband’s – I’m not sure where her piece of the puzzle fits in.
It is wonderful when you can rely on God’s promises that He will ..’bring them from afar….and He will save your children’. Your son gives hope to all the ministers wives (and all other mothers), who have backslidden children.
Just want to add – we are so glad to have you and your husband in Arizona! I am excited about the work God is doing through you in Lake Havasu!
PAM, sorry I didn’t see your remarks until today. We’re excited about having you here with us in a few weeks.
SHIRLEY, thank you for coming by my site…and for welcoming us to Arizona. We’re loving it here.
God continue to bless you and your church.

Hi Shirley,
I was reading one of your entries from May 24, 2007 about a drug-addicted lady that you were trying to help. I just wanted to mention that while N.A. and A.A. don’t insist on people choosing Jesus Christ as their personal lord and savior, that a lot of members do do this. What is helpful about the 12 step programs is the fellowship of one alcoholic/addict helping another. I have seen addicts get clean in N.A., stop going to meetings, return to church and then return to using drugs. Of course I have also seen plenty of people relapse without ever stepping foot in a church. My point is is that I believe that both 12 step programs And the Church are good ways to get and maintain sobriety, but it is foolish to depend upon only one of these. The founders of A.A. were very spiritual (and I believe, Christian) men. They only wrote the program without mentioning Jesus so that people who were frightened of religion wouldn’t be scared off from getting sober. If you have not actually read the A.A. big book, it’s something you might consider. They have a lot of positive things to say about religion.
I am not a religious person, but I have been clean and sober for 14 years. I do strive to act in accordance with God’s will, which is an idea that wouldn’t have occurred to me before I encountered the twelve steps.
All best,
Hi, Vida. Thank you for your time here and for your comments. I know some religious people (and others) believe AA to have no real value, but while I believe they certainly have limitations, I have met people who were delivered from alcohol through their meetings. I have nothing negative to say about them.
Knowing Jesus, however, takes us a step further than does AA, and I know how blessed I am to have been taught His ways since my childhood.
We are having tremendous success with our Christian Intervention Program here in Lake Havasu, and have seen people delivered. During our time here, I have met people, who as you, had great success through AA. I would never belittle such experiences.
Congratulations on your 14 years sober.
God bless you.
Vida
