50th for the Cantrells

50th for the Cantrells, originally uploaded by Shirley Buxton.

We arrived here in Visalia–which is central California–in the middle of the afternoon on Friday. By 6:00 Jerry and I had dressed for the event, walked across the property and into the hall decorated magnificently for the 50th wedding anniversary of our dear friends, Barbara and Harvey Cantrell.

It was a beautiful evening, layered with accolades and blessings and sweet words. The marriage of this exceptional couple has been set as a guiding star, a set point in relationships. They have pastored several churches, and Pastor Cantrell has been intensely involved in organizational work, having been the secretary of the Western District of the UPCI for many years.

Many of the Cantrell’s family were there, including Pastor Cantrell’s sister, who laughingly told of childhood escapades. Several of the attendants from the long ago wedding were there, including Arlen Royer, who, sang “The Lord’s Prayer,” both at the wedding and at the 50th celebration.
Rev. Paul Price, a long-time friend and colleague of the Cantrells, honored his friends by speaking of vows and commitment.
Congratulations to this delightful couple, and wishes for many more happy and healthy years.
