Men are smarter than women, according to a controversial new study that adds another cinder to the fiery debate over whether gender impacts general intelligence.
“For 100 years there’s been a consensus among psychologists that there is no sex difference in intelligence,” said J. Philippe Rushton, a psychologist at the University of Western Ontario, Canada.
Recent studies, however, have raised questions about the validity of this claim, he said. One such study showed that men have larger brains than women, a 100 gram difference after correcting for body size. Rushton found similar results in a study of gender and brain size.

Another article on the same site is entitled “Big Brains Not Always Better” http://www.livescience.com/humanbiology/050219_big_brains.html. And a third, “Men and Women Really Do Think Differently” http://www.livescience.com/humanbiology/050120_brain_sex.html, declares that men use more of the gray part of their brains and women use more of the white part. Thus, they excell at different things. So I guess men are smarter at some things and women at others. See, we really do need both. Stop the presses. What a revelation!

Feel better already, Helen. (Funny thing. Your comment had been tagged as spam! Must have been a male monitor.)

Hi Shirley!
I knew this all along! ha!!
Since I know you to be a God-fearing woman and a Bible scholar, let me get your opinion on the following if you think it may have to do with intellectual disparity between sexes:
1. Ephesians 5 speaks of a definite structure in the family, placing the husband as head over the wife.
2. The illustrations of God using men in the scripture overwhelmingly outnumber the examples of women.
3. When God incarnate came to earth he chose men as disciples (primarily) and men as the vessels to create and build his church.
Let’s get the party started!

Hi Berean!
I’ll go along with the party, especially since I have to leave today and go to a convention. You’ll be in charge of the fireworks.
1. I definitely believe husbands are over wives in the family structure. This to me is clear in scripture. I don’t think, however, that means men are better than women, of course. I believe also women in their natures desire to be led. Our society has trained women otherwise, but in our base nature, we want someone to look up to. We want someone who is taller and smarter than we are. (Let the fires fly!)
2. Consider there are no female chess champions. Even in golf, men exceed women.
3. Remember though how precious and sweet and indispensable we are.
Really, as you know, we should not be in competition with each other. The order of God is beautiful and has no equal.

Aw, Shirley! You completely disarmed me! I was trying to be funny…well sort of…not in a disrespectful way.
So…maybe you women ARE smarter than us men!
I think all being said, men and women are just different, and two halfs make a whole.
God bless,
-Jack

Jack, I’m sure you’ve heard the “old saw”: “Yes, my husband is the head of our house, but I’m definitely the neck.”
I was thinking about this conversation as I drove home from Orange County today, and thought how silly we humans can be sometime over words and designations. Jack, you are who you are, no matter where someone may say you fit on a certain scale. I, too, am who I am. Who really gives a rip about whether you or I are the smarter. I think it’s interesting to talk about and certainly to consider research. But it doesn’t change either of us, and we can’t do a thing about how smart or unsmart (just made up a word because I have the intellect to so do) we are.
What we must do is love Jesus, love mankind, and have our hearts pure and clean.
Thanks for coming to my site. God bless you.
